As a lightweight, efficient, and heat-resistant refractory material, ceramic fiber features low density, excellent thermal insulation performance, ease of construction, and does not require drying, among other advantages. These qualities make it currently one of the most widely used industrial high-temperature insulation materials. Ceramic fiber has an extremely low thermal conductivity, which allows it to significantly reduce heat loss in furnaces and achieve good energy-saving effects. Additionally, its low heat storage enables faster temperature changes within the furnace, making temperature control easier. Therefore, ceramic fiber (modules) are widely used as furnace linings in the heating furnaces of the steel industry.

In the steel industry, ceramic fiber modules are mainly used in heating furnaces, steel ladle covers, tundish covers, and hot treatment furnaces. Currently, with the increasing demands for cleaner production and higher thermal efficiency in steelmaking, a large number of ceramic fiber modules are used as insulation linings in heat treatment furnaces. From reheating furnaces for steel billets to continuous annealing furnaces for cold-rolled steel, ceramic fiber modules are used throughout the heating section—from the furnace roof to the side walls and bottom. In medium-sized furnaces, prefabricated ceramic fiber modules are often used to facilitate on-site installation.
